Pour le peintre, l'objectif de cette œuvre n'est pas "de profaner le patrimoine mais, au contraire, de lui donner une seconde vie... c'est un testament, une intrigue, un poème... c'est peut-être aussi une réflexion sur les vieux bateaux qui finissent là."
